I have to relate a hopeful resolution to an ongoing saga with Dell Financial Services.Just before Christmas I was looking at buying a new laptop. On the Dell site I noticed an offer to get 12 months free financing with a Dell credit card.
I filled out the info for the card but decided not to buy a computer.
In January I received a bill for nearly $2000.00.
Here's where everything went down the toilet. I called the 1-800 number for Dell Financial Services (DFS.)
My call was routed to India where I have never experienced a more drawn out, difficult to communicate with, waste of time in my life. Trust me, I've received poor customer service right here in the United States, but when it came to resolving this bogus charge these people were the epitome of WORTHLESSNESS.
Four (4) times over three months the 800 number people at DFS promised someone from the fraud department in America would call to help resolve this false charge.
They never called a single time.
I reported this gaffe and said I would call the fraud department since they failed to call me. The DFS 800 number people told me they didn't have a phone that rang.
Now I realize this was poor communication on their
part. They no doubt meant to say the fraud department was an outbound calling department and I therefore could not call them.Imagine the visualization I had from this supposed help center in India. It was Borat-esque to say the least.
I continued to receive threatening mail about how I needed to resolve this alleged bill. About how this would damage my credit and might be turned over for collection.
I did a Google search to find a phone number in America.
It was to purchase a computer. If you want to buy a computer you get an American in America. I explained my dilemma to the clerk and they directed me to fraud an after four months the issue may be resolved.
No thanks to Dell Financial Services. Thanks to ME and my not giving up.
It did cost me an entire day off work and nearly 12 hours in phone time nearly four hours of which was not toll free and therefore on my "dime."
Dell, your customer support is the WORST I've ever experienced.
No number or no department would have been better.
"Hey dude, I'm not gettin' a Dell, because they SUCK!"

good computer, service and paying online almost impossible always have to call to make payment plus the 9.95 to talk to someone in,bfe hard to understand,dont get thru credit with their dfs.
